Beauty Buzz - Stila One Step Make up

The other day, I had to order some Clinique products online (why, you ask, didn't I just go to the Clinique counter like everyone else? You see, that's a whole other misadventure all on its own. Anyway, I ended up ordering from Sephora.com, and included in the package came 2 samples: one a men's cologne, which I gave to my husband, and the other was a sample of Stila One Step Make up in dark. Not only do I love free stuff, I love trying out new brands of make up too! So I decided to give it a try, even though it was about three shades too dark for my skin. (I'm really good at blending, btw). This product addressees almost every skin type and gives you long-lasting wear (I never know what climate I'm going to be in, and need T-Zone oil control AND moisture on the cheeks).

The secret? One Step Makeup is energized with Stila's Youth Revival Bio-available Mineral Complex - 15 ionically charged minerals that read and react to all your skins needs. The outcome:

- Diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles
- Minimized pores
- Controls oil
- Hydrates & balances
- High definition
- Long wearing
- 100% natural mineral pigments
- Paraben & fragrance free
- Perfect for all skin types

Although its a Primer, foundation, concealer and powder all in one, I still used powder as my "last step" and it lasted even longer throughout heat, sun, sweat and humidity.

Oh, and did I mention my fav foundation by Lancome was discontinued six months ago, and I've been searching high and low, far and wide to replace it with something that actually works with my chemistry? This was no accident. This find was fate.

Lady Gaga – Pushing the Limits

Lady Gaga has the edge that many new artists of this generation have lacked, and in my personal opinion, Lady Gaga has single-handedly brought back the standard of music videos, which has slipped drastically in the last few years. (Can you say “No budgets?”) When it comes to her outrageous wardrobe choices, Lady Gaga definitely a style icon who pushes the limits, and leaves fans wanting more! In her new music video, "Telephone," Lady Gaga is looking fierce and pushing the fashion envelope with nothing less than the Gaga standard. Lady GaGa has been labeled “Icon for the Next Generation” by 944 mag. A label that’s well deserved.

Celeb Sighting in West Hollywood

Last week in West Hollywood, I spotted Amanda Bynes. She was fresh from the salon, where she had her color done (which looked great, by the way). Amanda has a fresh, vibrant look, and a great personality. She wore a black Chanel-looking blazer, with a white tee under it, black skinny jeans, a black Chanel bag with chain strap, and white-rimmed aviator sunglasses on her head. Amanda’s latest project is gracing the February cover of Maxim magazine. When asked about the shoot, Amanda had this to say: “I'm honored! I had the best time on this shoot. I think every shot I did was sexy. Some people still see me as a kid, but I'm a 23-year-old woman now.” Looks like our little girl is all grown up!

La La Love You

I knew one day I would see them live in the City of Angels...

The Pixies are my all-time favorite Alternative rock band. From "Where is my Mind" to "Debaser" to "The Happening" (Frank Black had an alien experience, so he decided to write about it), the Pixies have been there for me through it all: break-ups, back-stabbers, parties, growing up, & chilling out. I never get bored of their original pop/rock sound.

Coming up in November, the Pixies are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album Doolittle (released in 1989). They'll be playing three shows @ the Hollywood Palladium, Nov 4th, 5th, & 6th. Yes, they added one more date, which gives me one extra day to make it to one of their shows (even though I only live 2 blocks away from the palladium). It'll sure sound better than listening to my neighbor sing. I'm in a state.

Summer is far from over!

Some people might think that it's near the end of August, so fall is right around the corner. But here in L.A., its as hot as ever! Fall who? The extremely hot weather we've been having over the last few weeks has made me very happy that my summer wardrobe is really getting more bang for the buck! I've recently pulled a basic that I'm very excited about, my Celebrity Pink denim cuffed bottom shorts. They're a great fit (even for us girls who have CURVES), & they're a steal at only $24.00! You can check them out at my spot, House of Life.

Btw, hope everyone is having as great of a summer as I have been having...& hey, summer is far from over in our world!!! Love ya! xoxo.

Docs We Love: Roc Docs

So I stumbled upon this doc called "Do It For The Band: The Women of the Sunset Strip" on VH1 a few weeks ago while I was flipping through the channels. I love docs, pop culture, & especially love 80's rock! It was a TV dream come true! This doc gives you the good, the bad, & the ugly of the early glam metal scene on the Sunset Strip back in the day. The women in the doc are retired strippers, video girls, etc. who share their loyalty & devotion to the then un-famous rocker boys, who inevitably turned out to be some of the biggest names in rock to this day. Now this is loyalty (for those of you who are uptight, better "ear muff" it):

Their motto? "Do it for the band"!

The 7th Veil Strip club, where one of the women used to work, & where Guns N Roses used to hang out before they made it big. (I was like - hey, don't we drive past that strip club like almost every day)? Ah, the rich history of Sunset Strip!
